SCIENCE IDOL: Scientific Integrity Editorial Cartoon Contest
Show off your artistic and comedic talents in support of independent science by entering the 2nd annual Scientific Integrity Editorial Cartoon Contest hosted by the Union of Concerned Scientists! Cartoonists Garry Trudeau (Doonesbury), Tom Toles (Washington Post), and Dave Coverly (Speed Bump) will participate in a panel discussion to choose the winning finalists. The public will then vote on the grand prize winner, who will receive a trip to lunch with Toles in Washington, D.C.
The goal of this project is to underscore the fact that political censorship has prevented public awareness of important environmental issues that affect our daily lives. Political interference in the scientific community has allowed FDA approval of harmful drugs, and prevented the public from hearing the truth about global warming.
Last year’s winner, James MacLeod from Evansville, IN created an articulate comic that resonated with the artistic, scientific, and political communities.

Any support and publicity the contest can achieve would be greatly appreciated. A promotional flyer for display and dissemination can be found here.
It’s time to put your creative energy towards an important political cause! Enter by May 22nd!
