Superman Returns...again!

So remember when they said "You'll believe a man can fly"? Yeah, well, your still gonna believe it. This past Sunday I attended an early sneak peak of the Supes movie. Very Nice. Very Nice, Indeed! Now right out front I should remind you that this is supposed to be the new Superman III. No Quest for Peace, no Supergirl, none of it! Thank god and Bryan Singer! Bearing that in mind, this was an amazingly well cast movie. Almost every single character reminds you of, but not in a bad way, the previous actors. It isn't that they look like the original cast, because they don't, but that they are playing the SAME characters as the first cast. It's hard to tell if Kevin Spacey is playing Lex Luthor, or if he's playing Gene Hackman playing Lex Luthor. Which, if he is, Spacey does an amazing Hackman! I don't really want to tell you anything of the actual plot, because I hate when people do that to me. I will say this, if the last movie you saw was X-Men 3, go see something else first. After all that action, it will make this seem ungodly slow, like a bad rock and roll station, too much talk, not enough rock. This is a character driven drama designed to reintroduce us to the modern Superman, not a slugfest. But all that said, on the McNamara scale of movies this rates a low +8 on the fun, and about the same on quality. With good acting, great direction, some amazing special effects, and the best opening credits scene that I can remember in a long time, Superman Returns with a solid +8 on the McNamara Sliding Scale of Film. Check back for the blog I write after the movie opens, based off this website. And again, if you ask, I will deny having seen it.
