Clerks II

I got to see a sneak peak of Clerks 2 last week, and man was I floored! I didn't expect too much after Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and I was hoping that it didn't have that big movie feel of Dogma. But I think that going back to his roots with Clerks has served him well. While this is a movie mostly for fans of the original, as there are many jokes only they will get, it's also enough of its own movie that newcomers should enjoy it as well. Most of the actors seem to have fallen right back into their original roles easily, but surprisingly enough it's Jay and Silent Bob that stick out this time. It just seemed like they were trying too hard. After everything that happened to them over the past couple of movies, this just felt too small for them. But if you really wanted to delve into it I guess you could say that they needed some normalcy after all the crazy. But on to the numbers, as a long time Kevin Smith fan, and a fan of the original, I laughed the whole way through, earning it a solid +8 for fun. On the technical scale I have to give it about a +5, not great, but not too bad. As I said, some overacting, some underacting, sometimes the acting was at odds with the dialogue, but overall better then not.
